One year today Carson was placed in my arms.

Today is our forever family day. As I was preparing for the day, my mind was reviewing the events which unfolded the day Carson was placed in my arms.
On June 3, 2008 my sister Tracey and I were getting ready in our Marriott hotel room and my emotions were intense. I was extremely nervous, joyful and excited all at the same time. I remember saying to Tracey, 'I do not think I can do this. Let's forget it and go home'. She laughed and replied "It's too late, Greta Jo." UH! My heart fell to my stomach and I started shaking. She said, "Let's go. We are going to be late." Late to my sister is fifteen minutes before the event takes place. So we proceeded to the lobby, however, once we arrived in the lobby I was too nervous to sit inside. Therefore, we sat outside on the bench giggling and conversing about anything and everything while waiting for Carson. All of a sudden Tracey looks at me with wide eyes and says softly, "Did you bring a picture of Carson with you?" I replied, "No, why?" Her response was priceless, "What if you do not recognize him and what if they switch him for another baby boy?" I laughed and said, "I know what my baby boy looks like." Then, I silently thought to myself, what if? No, they would never, well, maybe, NO, stop it, I have seen enough pictures of Carson to know what he looks like, and I did receive a few update pictures a few days ago. I will know him when I see him. Within 10 minutes of having an argument with myself, a young boy and a tall woman holding a beautiful baby boy started walking towards us. I stood up and said, "There he is, there he is!" Tracey said "Are you sure?" I replied, "Yes, it's Carson." I could not take Carson fast enough from his foster mother. As I was holding Carson for the first time, my heart was so light and I was praising the Lord. Carson's foster mother and I exchanged a few words, shed many tears together, and smiled. June 3, 2007 has changed my life forever. Carson, I love you sweet baby boy!

To My Baby Grandson: I can't believe a full year has flown by. You are a very special little boy and I am so glad that we were able to add you to our list of Grandchildren. When I look at you I think back to the day your Mommma got the call. A day for me that was filled with saddness and a day filled with joy. Since then everytime I look at you I know that God put you into our family. I am very thankful for that. Hope you will always know how much everyone loves you. You will always have a very special Angel watching over you, and I know she will do everying to keep you safe as she did me.
Love You.......... Mom Mom

Dear Carson,
It seems like it was just yesterday that your mom and I were out having dinner talking about you. What would your personality be like? When would your mom finally get to hold you in her arms for the first time? But, most of all, I remember how she was nervous. Hoping that she could handle all the new responsibilities of motherhood. All along, not realizing she already was a mother. She just hadn't gotten to meet you yet. The anxiety that she felt was that of any mother.
Now a year has passed and I've gotten to witness firsthand how much happiness you've brought into so may people's lives. Your smile melts the hearts of everyone you meet!
God bless both of you on this very special day! Lots of love,
Kelly

Carson - your Mommy loves you so much! I've read the posts she's written for you, and it is obvious that the Lord brought you two together for a special reason.

Greta Jo - thanks for being such a great friend. I'm happy the Lord brought you in my life, too!

Peace and Xtra Hugs,

Happy Forever Family Day Mom and Carson. The story was great. I cried as you told your sister you would know your son, and you did. Gives me chills.

Forever Family Days are so special in our hearts. But, sad as we think about the families they left behind. Today is your day soak up the love.

Greta Jo,

First congratulations on reaching this special milestone. It was such an emotional day for me. We celebrated his gotcha day one year later in Colorado with family.

Carson is a very handsome boy. I look forward to reading through your blog and learning more about your story.

If we did live in NJ I would so give you a call. We are in AR. I know that the family is trying to reach out and to any resources that they can. Thanks for the info. I will pass along the facts about room and board being paid for.

I tried to email you instead of leaving a comment but could not find your email address and our computer is set up to not allow outside email links (I think that is the hang up) Please fell free to email me any time. milner.angie@gmail.com
