Happy 9th Birthday

Today we celebrated Carson's 9th birthday by building Lego City for six hours, had dinner at Mike's seafood, played in the arcade, walk in the boardwalk and had ice cream at Yum Yum's.  He said, "it was the best birthday ever."

Nine things that I love about you in no particular order:
1. Your loving heart.
2. Your sense of humor.
3. Your love for your siblings.
4. Caring for animals.
5. Your talent in the gym and on the baseball field.
6. Your relationship with the Lord.
7. Your love to sit close and hold my hand when watching a movie or talking.
8. Your spirit.
9. That you are my son.

Better late than never

Well, Carson finished 2nd grade with honors.  He received science, reading, spelling and kingdom builders awards.  Of course we had our daily struggles with: getting the last word in, having a temper when he did not do well on a test or assignment, and MATH good old MATH. Math is a daily struggle with Carson.  He has a complete block when it comes to simple math problems however the harder the math problem the easier it is for him.  Crazy right?! Overall he had a good year.  Praise God!

Pink WHAT?

Thank you classmate for sharing your pink eye with my son.
Your willingness to share your pink eye with my son came with some extra bonuses: fever 102, watery and itchy eyes. Oh. One more thing. A $25.00 co-pay for the doctor's visit plus a $15.00 co-pay for the medication. Please in the future STAY HOME when you are contagious.

Spelling compound words.
Loving his science class.
Struggles at night to complete homework.
Started reading chapter books.
Still learning about personal boundaries.
Loves to get the last word in.
He is into Nerf guns.
Riding his bike.
Chasing wood bees.
Playing catcher and shortstop in baseball.
Riding the "big kid" rides on the boardwalk.
Using potty words i.e. butt, fart, etc.  and laughing when he says them.
Covers his eyes when he sees people kissing.
Makes fart sounds with his arm pits and mouth.
Loves to tell me how the human body works.
Dreams about being the President one day and dropping boxes of food and clothing off to "his people".
He thinks I am 22.
Watches animal planet at night.
Goes to sleep listening to relaxing mood music.

Job 35:10-11

But no one asks, "Where is God, my creator, who inspires songs in the night, who teaches us more than he teaches the animals of the earth, who makes us wiser than the birds in the sky?"

shadowing and baseball

Carson shadowed at a new school last week.  I was highly impressed with the cleanliness of the school, professionalism of the staff, student's attitudes and test scores.  The decision to switch private schools is a hard one but combining 3rd and 4th grade in his current school for next year is not favorable to me.  I understand combining classes is normal at some schools however its not in the best interest of Carson. When I spoke with Carson about changing schools next year he said, "My friends are my world.  They will miss me." After a heartfelt conversation he was willing to see the new school.  Fast forward a few weeks- the shadowing happened in the 2nd grade class.  At the end of the day Carson heard the teacher say to the class, "You only have spelling words tonight."  So of course Carson thinks he will only have spelling words for homework if he goes there.  HaHa.
So baseball has started and Carson is doing well this season.  He is playing catcher and short-stop.  Both positions are very active so that works for him.  He is hitting really well.  Its great to see him comfortable in the batters box.

We believe- Newsboy

In this time of desperation
When all we know is doubt and fear
There is only One Foundation
We believe, We believe
In this broken generation
When all is dark, You help us see
There is only One Salvation
We believe, We believe

We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He's given us new life
We believe in the crucifixion
We believe that He conquered death
We believe in the resurrection
And He's comin' back again, we believe

So, let our faith be more than anthems
Greater than the songs we sing
And in our weakness and temptations
We believe, We believe!

We believe in God the Father!
We believe in Jesus Christ!
We believe in the Holy Spirit!
And He's given us new life!
We believe in the crucifixion!
We believe that He conquered death!
We believe in the resurrection!
And He's comin' back again!

Let the lost be found and the dead be raised!
In the here and now, let love invade!
Let the church live loud, our God we'll say
We believe, We believe!
And the gates of hell will not prevail!
For the power of God Has torn the veil!
Now we know Your love will never fail!
We believe, We believe!

We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He's given us new life!
We believe in the crucifixion!
We believe that He conquered death!
We believe in the resurrection!
And He's comin' back,
He's comin' back again!
He's comin' back again!
We believe!
We believe

Give, and it will be given to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.

'No matter how loud the opinions of others are, they cant really force us to be what we are not.
The question should not be,
''Why don't they like me when i am being me?''.......It should be,
''Why am i wasting my time and energy worrying what they think of me?''

My friends, if u are not hurting anyone with your actions, just keep moving forward with your life.
Be happy!
Be yourself!
If others don't like it, let them be.
Life isn't about pleasing everybody'

Hanging with my favorite boy tonight.  Just hanging out in the living room- eating ice cream, reading, singing silly songs and telling stories.  I'm so in love with Carson.
