I woke up with this

song on my mind.

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to
I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again
Won't you look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
( From: http://www.elyrics.net )

But I always thought that I'd see you again

Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things
to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now
Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now

I need the

sun.  It was another gloomy day in Cape May County.  Maybe a quick trip to Florida would help hmmm.  On a positive note hockey starts this weekend.

Good start

of the week for Carson in school.  We are changing his diet to see if that helps with some of his behavior concerns.

TWENTY THINGS A MOM SHOULD TELL HER SON

1. Play a sport.
It will teach you how to win honorably,
lose gracefully, respect authority,
... work with others, manage your time
and stay out of trouble.
And maybe even throw or catch.

2. You will set the tone
for the sexual relationship,
so don't take something away from her
that you can't give back.

3. Use careful aim when you pee.
Somebody's got to clean that up, you know.

4. Save money when you're young
because you're going to need it someday.

5. Allow me to introduce you
to the dishwasher, oven,
washing machine, iron,
vacuum, mop and broom.
Now please go use them.

6. Pray and be a spiritual leader.

7. Don't ever be a bully
and don't ever start a fight,
but if some idiot clocks you,
please defend yourself.

8. Your knowledge and education is something
that nobody can take away from you.

9. Treat women kindly.
Forever is a long time to live alone
and it's even longer to live with somebody
who hates your guts.

10. Take pride in your appearance.

11. Be strong and tender at the same time.

12. A woman can do everything that you can do.
This includes her having a successful career
and you changing diapers at 3 A.M.
Mutual respect is the key to a good relationship.

13. "Yes ma'am" and "yes sir"
still go a long way.

14. The reason that they're called "private parts"
is because they're "private".
Please do not scratch them in public.

15. Peer pressure is a scary thing.
Be a good leader and others will follow.

16. Bringing her flowers for no reason
is always a good idea.

17. It is better to be kind
than to be right.

18. A sense of humor
goes a long way
in the healing process.

19. Please choose your spouse wisely.
My daughter-in-law will be the gatekeeper for me
spending time with you and my grandchildren.

20. Remember to call your mother
because I might be missing you.

At 4:30am

the little ones are up and ready to start the day.  What the heck?!

Carson's top ten for 2012

It feels like last night I was writing Carson's top ten for 2011.  Anyway, I've been reflecting about 2012 for the past few days.  Carson has matured into a young boy.  Yes, we still have our issues with his strong will outburst and unwillingness to listen the first time, second time and third time; however we have made huge strides as a family.  He continues to amaze me with his tender heart.  He has a heart to help, serve and love people.

Top 10 for 2012

10. He started taking sign language classes.
9. He was in a play.
8. He learned how to ski.
7. He went to more girl birthday parties then boys. (haha)
6. He learned the hard way- when your not nice to an animal it will be returned.
5. He learned how to roller blade.
4. He lost two teeth.
3. He played two recreation sports.
2. He learned/asked more about his family in Guatemala.
1. He confessed to accept Jesus to live in his heart. AMEN!

I love this song

Met my old lover in a grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
Stole behind her in the frozen foods
and I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
but then her eyes flew open wide
Tried to hug me and she spilled her purse
and we laughed until we cried
Took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
stood there lost in our embarrassment
as the conversation dragged
Went to have ourselves a drink or two
but couldn't find an open bar
Bought a six-pack at the liquor store
and we drank it in her car
We drank a toast to innocence, we drank a toast to now
Tried to reach beyond the emptiness but neither one knew how
She said she'd married her an architect
Kept her warm and safe and dry

She said she'd like to say she loved the man
but she didn't want to lie
I said the years had been a friend to her
and that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I saw doubt or gratitude
She said she saw me in the record store
and that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
but the traveling was hell
We drank a toast to innocence we drank a toast to time
We're living in our eloquence, another old lang syne
The beers were empty and our tongues grew tired
and running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
and I watched her drive away
Just for a moment I was back in school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
the snow turned into rain

Christmas gifts

from the heart.  Carson wanted to make a few Christmas gifts for his Best and Aunt Elizabeth
(Joey's wife).   I have a little artist on my hands.  He sat at the kitchen table painting for one hour.  He talked a little however he told me he needed to focus.

Progress report

for the second marking period arrived in Carson's folder today.  He needs to improve in: works quietly, follows rules, gets along with others, participates in class.  The comment from his teacher: Carson has shown great progress in his academics!  He is working hard and usually does his best on his seat work.  He needs to work on being kind to others and not be so physical.  I do see him making efforts to improve in these areas.  I am proud of his progress.

We have entered into

the world of NO at our house.  Every other word that comes out of Greta Rebecca's mouth is NO, NO, NO even when she means to say Yes.  It was cute in the beginning and now....
Anyway, Carson said, "Mommy, can we please teach her another word besides no."  haha.  Greta Rebecca says about 15 words already.  My girl is growing up way too fast.

This weekend was very busy for Carson.  Friday night was his Christmas concert for school which was cute.  His class sang two songs in sign language which was beautiful.  He did a great job.  On Saturday night, he was involved with a live nativity event at his school.  Greta Rebecca and Jonathan enjoyed the event as well.  I was busy inside the school serving cookies and hot chocolate.

As I sit at the computer and write about Carson and Greta Rebecca my heart is heavy for the parents in Connecticut.  I can not wrap my mind around what happened at Sandy Hook School.  The only thing I can do is pray for eveyone involved.  But I will admit I am nervous about dropping Carson off at school tomorrow.  I already call the school once or twice a day now to see how he is doing ( Yes I am one of those parents).  I will do whatever it takes to make me feel comfortable and safe with him being at school.  Carson and I had a heart to heart today about the incident that occurred in Connecticut.  I did not go into a lot of detail however I explained to him that he had to listen carefully if the teachers tell him to hide, duck, or run.  He looked at me with wide eyes and said, "Ok".  I have to put my trust in God that everything will be ok.  But you never know....

The Christmas Gift that always satisfies

In the midst of the hustle and bustle and craziness of this season, I feel the need to just recalibrate myself to what is truly important about the holiday.  While I love the decorations, lights, smells, songs, gift-giving, church services, and family time, I find they can so easily distract me from keeping in focus the One who provides these things for our enjoyment.

another cute conversation with Carson

I lost my truck keys.
I can not find my truck keys.
What the heck?

Mommy, think back to where you last had them.

I think I had them in the truck last.

Yes, Mommy you would need your keys to drive your truck.  I think you should look there first because that would be a smart decision.

Mommy, I love babies.
Me too, Carson.

Mommy, can you have another baby from your belly?
silents

Mommy, I will pray for another baby because if you want something you just have to ask God.
With tears...thanks Carson

Mommy, do not cry.
ok, Carson

Mommy, I will ask God for another baby and I will ask him to wipe your tears.
Let's hug it out Mommy.

Carson's Christmas list

1. Red DS 3d
2. Roller blades
3. Bike
4. scooter
5. tv for his bedroom
6. telescope
7. dry erase board
8. games for his DS

not a toy on his list   :(

Carson said...
Mommy, I have an idea.  Email care.com and all the kids that do not have a Mom or a Dad will now have a babysitter.  On care. com you can buy a babysitter or nanny.  I think that would make a great christmas gift.

Its not a perfect world but we will meet one day

Well Rachel Jean- if it was a perfect world you would be 4 weeks old today.  I can still hear your heartbeat echoing through my ears.  I frequently look at your ultrasound photos which brings me to tears that you are not with us however I know you are perfect in heaven.  Rachel I would have never wanted you to suffer.  Yes there are many different levels of Turners syndrome. however the way the testing came back you would have really suffered in life physically and mentally.  I would never, ever want that for you.  With that being said, it does not make the pain any easier nor my desire to have you in my life any less.  What gives me hope is one day we will be together.  Until then you will continue to grow in my heart.  I love you my angel girl.

Why did we pick the name Rachel?  Its from the bible of-course
Love conquers all
It was love at first sight for Rachel and Jacob, but there was no 'happy ending' for them.
Rachel found it hard to conceive and Jacob's other wives, though less loved, were more fertile;
they had ten sons. Rachel bore Joseph but died in childbirth when her second son Benjamin was born. These twelve sons were the forefathers of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

Her middle name Jean-
My mom's middle name and Jonathan's grandmother's first name
