potty training blues

Carson is three years and three months old and still not potty trained. We have been working on it for at least three weeks. We have tried using the little potty, big potty, peeing in a plastic cup, giving candy (chocolate) after using the potty, etc. nothing is working. Help!
P.S. When he does peepee in 'something'(not his underwear or the floor) we make a HUGE deal over it.

You can always try the "Sorry Buddy, but this is just the way it's going to be." approach. Wyatt just did not and still does not like change in his life. It could be a battle of wills. Throw away all the diapers and be done with it all. Easier for me to say, huh? I feel for you and hope it ends soon. Happy New Year!

Ugh. Potty training stinks! My hubby made a chart for pea and everything he used the potty he got a sticker to put on the chart. This really worked for him. We made a really big deal about it and hooped and hollered and gave lots of high fives whenever he was successful. But, every kid is different. Hopefully you will find something that works for Carson. I bet he will wake up one of these days and suddenly decide he is ready to use the potty all the time!

It will happen. I promise. It will. Our son was just about that age when he did, and honestly, I am still not sure (eight years later) that he was truly ready then. And J-man is not quite that age, but I know he isn't ready. I would just try underwear for a day. Go periodically. If he wets them, just say, "oh, you aren't ready yet..." and put him back in diapers. Then try again in a couple of weeks. I promise...they do get there! It just takes a lot of patience and waiting (which is not fun). And honestly, with your trip coming up, I would be in no hurry. Diapers are ALOT easier. When they first start wearing underwear, you have to stop at every bathroom...

PS Our kids' doctor always said, "The average age for a boy to potty train is 2 years 10 months." I would say, "But my son is three..." He would say, "I said the AVERAGE...that means someone did it earlier, some do it later..."

Logan was 3 yrs and 7 months before he was daytime trained. He is today 5 and still wears a pull up to bed. Don't worry, it will come. Our ped. told me not to worry until they were 5 and not daytime trained.
