Missing Guatemala

Well, we've been back 2 days now and I'm still trying to process all that we experienced in Guatemala. There were many "God" moments which were loaded with emotion and the touch of His Spirit. The faces of people and places we visited are still so vivid in my mind. It all seemed so surreal while we were there, and yet so very real. There are times that I find myself replaying in my head segments of each day which have impacted my life greatly. There is something about Guatemala that is drawing me back. We've already discussed when we will return for our next visit. Tonight we were watching video with some family members, going over the different events of our trip. Unfortunately, the video didn't do it justice as there is nothing like actually being there among the people, the children, the sights and the sounds. I have been inspired to rethink what is truly important in my life. Thank you, God, for giving us the opportunity to serve your people and to see your Spirit move in a foreign land. Please keep the spirit of what we experienced fresh in our hearts moving forward. Hone our wills to conform to Yours so that we can glorify Your Name and all that You are.

On Their Way Home!!

Hello Everyone! This is Becca blogging for Greta Jo. She and her crew are officially on their way home. (I came home earlier this week.) We all had a fabulous time. I told Gret I would post some pictures from our trip. Keep them in your prayers as they travel today. I know she is sssooo excited about seeing her angel Carson soon. She was trying to decide if she was going to wake him up tonight or see him first thing in the morning. He is so very sweet and special. Our children were our inspiration for this trip. We did this in honor of them.
Paula, me (Becca), and Gret - the Guatemamas
Dick and one of his kiddos - I love this picture...Hermano Pedro - isn't it beautiful?Me (Becca - but I guess you've picked up on that by now...) I am so thankful that the Lord brought us together.

All of the kids LOVED Daniel! And Daniel is an exceptional young man. He is a natural with the kids. He is fabulous - and so very kind. Daniel helped me while I was at the market. And he never did lose patience with me, even though I kept calling him Jonathan.

Peace and Hugs,

Becca

Happy Birthday recap and snip, snip

Saturday we had a wonderful time at Carson's birthday party. He received a lot of fun toys from family and friends; horse truck and trailer, CAT dump truck, block truck, big wheel with sounds, puzzles and clothes. Carson had a blast playing with everyone and of course he was the center of attention.

Sunday evening my parents, Tracey, Levin and Jonathan came over for dinner. After dinner we all enjoyed (except for Tracey), ice cream birthday cake from Carson's party. A family evening get together is not complete without a competitive game on the Wii.

Today Carson was circumcised at Children's Hospital ( yep, two days after his birthday). The physicians and nurses were excellent. Carson did very well until the last dose of medication. He had a reaction to the medication which caused him to be completely out of control. He screamed, yelled, kicked, bit, cried, had trouble getting his breath. After 30 minutes of wildness Carson finally settled down. Thank goodness my Essie (my mom) was with me. She was a great help. Carson has to keep the treatment on for three days. He can not run, jump, straddle any of his toys for 2 weeks. Oh- its going to be a long two weeks!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Carson

Dear Carson,
It's hard for me to believe you are 2 already. You have brought so much joy to me and our family. Your smile illuminates the room and our hearts. You are growing so fast and you are a delight to watch as you play and explore the world around you. Thank you, God, for blessing us with an amazing child. Please bless his birth mother this day and give her joy, peace, and comfort.
I love you sweet baby boy.

Summer 2008

I can not believe I am typing Happy Labor day. What the heck happened to summer? Did I blink too long? Despite how fast summer went, Carson and I had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the warm weather and sunny days. We made great memories, met some awesome people, rode many rides on the boardwalk, ate way too many curly fries, swam, celebrated birthdays and spent quality time with family.
