Please Help Abby!

Does everyone follow the Riggs family blog? If you are not familiar with this amazing family.... check out their blog. They are a diverse family and full of love. They have 4 biological children, 2 children from Guatemala, and a beautiful daughter from Ethiopia. One of their Guatemalan children, Abby, was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Bless her little heart. She is precious!

Abby has some pretty intensive chemo treatments 1-4 times per week for the next 5 MONTHS.... This means lots of time at the hospital, lots of time needing to be spent helping Abby.... a lot less time for making meals and cleaning houses, etc...

You can read more about what is going on at the Rigg's blog.

So many of us who do not live in the area have wanted to help but haven't known what we could do. WELL HERE WE GO! Some sweet friends of mine who live in the area ( Amy B and Carol B- Lauren's mom) are putting together plans for how to serve this family during this difficult time. Part of this will be providing lots of meals for them to relieve some of the stress. We want these precious parents to be able to focus on their children as much as possible. Let's help them do that!

If you are interested in sending or giving money for meals, that is welcomed. Either contact Amy to send the payment, or pay via paypal. (Directions on how to do this below) A few of these friends in OKC area are going to be making frozen meals at Supper Thyme to give to the family. (One meal to serve 7 is approximately $25) If you live local and are interested in delivering a frozen or refrigerated meal to them at the hospital, either message Amy at amyde63@hotmail.com or leave a comment at her blog.

Directions to give via paypal: Once you are logged into your account, click Send Money. In the "To" box, type in my email address - amyde63@hotmail.com Type in the amount, and then click services/other, and then click continue. Wah lah.

Would you also consider posting this on your blog to help us spread the word??? THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Happy Birthday Daddy

8/27

Dear Daddy,

Today, I wish you a very happy birthday. I have listed a few awesome 'things' about you that I really cherish and pray I pass on to Carson.

During the darkest days and nights of my life you were there for me.

I can come to you with thoughts, dreams, problems and concerns- you are always willing to listen without judgement.

You taught me how to drive stick shift- even if I did almost get us killed!

You have taught me to examine both sides of a situation carefully before making a decision.

You taught me if wanted to be a bear, I should be a grizzly bear.

You taught me there's nothing fair, but the county fair.

You taught me, after I learned the hard way- be careful with what you say, because once you say it, you can not take it back.

You taught me that hard work will pay off.

You taught me that being a christian is not an easy walk.

I could write pages of awesome 'things' that you have taught me however, its your special day and you are one awesome Daddy! Happy Birthday.

Baseball, Baseball, Baseball

Carson loves baseball. I must say, I hope his love for the game continues. Its always been 'a dream of mine' for my son to play on my Dad's little league team.

A little conversation between Tracey and Carson

Background: Any time we see or hear an airplane we say: Hi Joey, as he is a pilot.

Conversation between my sister Tracey and Carson this evening:

T- saw and heard an airplane and said, Hi Joey
C- Hi
T- Carson, where is Joey?
C- Pointed to the airplane as it flew by and said, up there, up there

We miss you Joey!

In Mommy's bed and reading books.

The photos below are not staged photos. Before I started brushing my teeth the other night, I told Carson it was time for bed. He took off running down the hallway saying night-night Mommy. I thought to myself- oh, this is going to be an easy night! As I walked into his bedroom, there was no Carson, oh where could he be? In Mommy's bed under the covers and reading a book. Uh- this was a long night!
