What the heck happened to my sweet baby boy? He has turned into a little 2 1/2 year old terror. Carson is kicking, hitting and biting people. Wow! This weekend Jonathan and I thought we were in the boxing ring as we were ducking, dodging and blocking Carson. The word NO, the time out chair, and threats did not work. Matter of fact, nothing worked, we tried to get his attention by looking at books, playing with his toys, etc.- nothing absolutely nothing worked! Once again a few years ago, I remember thinking, my kid will never kick, hit or bite, why can't they get their kid under control? Well, now its my kid. Why can't I get him under control?
I pray its 'just' his age and this to shall pass. I hope so!

UGH! I feel your pain. Eli has been doing much of the same. He doesn't bite, but he kicks, throws stuff, and hits the walls. It is very frustrating. I think it is just part of this age. We also use timeout and take away toys if he is throwing them. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. There is one thing that seems to work the best. He usually starts this behavior when he is not getting his way. So, instead of automatically saying "no," I will rephrase his request (depending on what it is) with something like "Yes, you can watch TV after we eat dinner." Sometimes I have to say it a couple of times, but I think hearing the word "yes" first seems to calm him down a bit. BUT, it doesn't always work.
It is a stage and it WILL pass. Eventually. :) Count yourself blessed it is just now hitting. :) Joshua started about his second birthday. I agree with the suggestions Steph mentioned. I also will do almost a "body hold" when Joshua starts flailing. I get behind him and just kind of bear hug him until he has settled down. Or I will hold his hands and count...I think he will be a master counter some day. :) I try to put words to his feelings, "I know, you must be so disappointed you cannot play outside right now." And as for biting, well, I keep a small bowl of vinegar out on the counter with a little medicine syringe. When he bites, he gets a taste of vinegar. That stopped the biting pretty quick. I do promise it will get better. It is just a stage they all go through, though I think our youngest may take the cake. :)
WOW...the same thing happened here this week. Mia bit Ethan's cheek & drew blood. Now I do have a hard time believing she just walked over to him and chomped down. When I asked Ethan what happened his response was he "may" have pushed her. I am praying hard too that this phase passes...never to return!
*The Terrible 2's*...sometimes we've missed them and instead had *Terror Filled Three*- with my second I seriously thought only one of us would make it out alive (and I thought somedays it might not be me who actually survived.)
This too will pass, stick to godly discipline.

Oh, so been there, still there, really!! Short of the biting, Reese has done it all. SOmetimes I have to put myself in a time out so I don't lose my mind!!!
As more language has come, it is getting better..........good luck!!!
I love the picture - it is like he's saying, "Hey. Mom. Not my fault!" I love his spirit - it is just a stage. Missing you...
Love,
Becca
